Gidget Alaman, all on her own, decided she wanted to do a Christmas Party for the orphanage in 외도 (Oe’do), so she setup an event page a recruited helpers.
https://www.facebook.com/events/290679260968417/?ref=3&suggestsessionid=11465201931357624366 She wanted to play games with the kids, make treats, and give gifts. The gift-giving is where Jeju Furey stepped in.
We reduced the price of the t-shirts we sell and said that for every t-shirt that was bought to give as a Christmas gift for the orphans, we would match it. Within hours, dozens of t-shirts had been sold, more than enough for one orphanage, and not only was there great interest in the t-shirts but Gidget started to get more volunteers than she needed. So Susan Shain and Julie Kertesz decided to siphon off a few of them and do a second Christmas party over at the orphanage in 화북 (Hwa’buk).
Both Christmas parties were very successful and the people who ran the orphanage asked both groups to come back again.
The grand total of money donated to buy t-shirts was 433,000won. Twenty donors bought 83 shirts in less than 48 hours. Hats off to you all!
